| Panasonic offers two different types of compressed HD tape formats that each require their own type of VTR - the 1/4" DVCPROHD format, and the 1/2" D-5HD format. The VTRs in this section exclusively encompass the 1/2" D-5HD tape Mastering equipment intended for a higher compressed picture bit rate (approximately 223Mb/s in D-5HD mode, and deterministically supporting the advanced "2K" data read/write mode in modified machines (or new machines shipped from the factory after September 2007) using the optional AJ-HDP2000 2K Processor. The advanced Motion JPEG intra-field/intra-frame compression in D-5HD mode allows for individual field editing access when an interlaced or PsF segmented frame recording choice is made. Through advanced implementation of outboard JPEG2000 hardware compression in the optional AJ-HDP2000 2K Processor, Panasonic D-5HD 3700 Series units can be modified to exchange 2048x1080 12-bit "2K" content within Post Production facilities, such as for DI Suites, via Dual Link connectivity. | |
